The Hattie B’s West Nashville location has graciously offered to donate a portion of ALL sales throughout the WHOLE day back to Sylvan Park! That’s 11am until 11pm!!! Proposed By-Law Amendment to Article 2.6 (c) and (d):
(c) The PTO shall maintain a Reserve Fund equal to 20% of the current fiscal year Operating Expenses (the Budget less earmarked Fundraising Expenses) or $5,000, whichever is greater (the “Reserve Amount”). The Reserve Fund shall be held in interest-bearing account separate from the PTO’s general funds.
i. Any interest from the Reserve Fund may be transferred to the PTO’s general operating account(s) or reinvested.
ii. If the balance of the Reserve Fund exceeds the Reserve Amount for any reason, the Board may elect to transfer the excess to the PTO’s general operating account(s).
ii. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Article, the Reserve Fund may be used for expenditures as approved by a Board vote followed by a full PTO vote.
iii. If at any time the Reserve Fund contains less than the Reserve Amount all fundraising earnings except for designated under Article 2.6(b) (Earmarked Funds) shall be deposited in the Reserve Fund until the balance reaches the Reserve Amount.
(d) In addition to the Reserve Fund, the PTO shall strive to preserve a reasonable balance at the end of each fiscal year, to be used by the next year’s PTO as a starting point for the following fiscal year; and,

Countdown to Kindergarten
April 22, 2021, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm Event Link: www.mnps.org This Live Event that will feature information sessions on how to register for MNPS kindergarten and apply for Pre-K. The virtual fair will also feature breakout sessions from MNPS departments who will provide information to support your child’s transition to kindergarten and an opportunity for families to ask questions. The Fair will end with a special read-aloud for families presented by the Nashville Public Library. The library will also be providing literacy tips to help get your family ready for kindergarten. The virtual Fair Live Event will be live from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. All sessions will be recorded and can be viewed after the event.

Congratulations Thomas Middlebrooks!
Thomas’s poem, Wolves, won 3rd place in the 12th Annual Elementary School Poetry Contest. Students wrote poems about their favorite animals. Five finalists were selected by the Belmont English Club and worked with songwriters to put their poems to music. 2021-2022 Open Board Positions:
Vice President – Supports the President as needed, first of a two year term with the second year serving as President.
Treasurer-in-Training – Assists the Treasurer in maintaining a record of expenses and income, duties divided as needed. First of a two year term with the second year serving as Treasurer.
Community Relations – Markets the school, organizes tours for prospective families, fosters relationships with other Hillsboro Cluster school support organizations.

Support Sylvan Park Student in Poetry Contest
We are pleased to announce that we’re ready for the next phase of Belmont’s 12th Annual Elementary School Poetry Contest. Thomas Middlebrooks (grade 3) is one of the five finalists. The finalists worked with local songwriters, and wrote songs from their poems. They have been recorded and uploaded to Belmont’s website and are available for listening and voting!
