Sylvan Park Paideia Elementary School

All Sylvan Park families are welcome to join the 3rd Grade Performance on Thursday, December 15th. This event will be in lieu of the holiday singalongs the school has done in the past. 

On December 10 , MNPS will host a hiring event for the newly created Safety Ambassador positions who will be assigned to district elementary schools. Safety Ambassadors will directly support the safety of students and staff as well as assist with safety drills.

Compensation will start at $18.58/hour. The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. through noon at the MNPS Wellness Center, located at 2694 Fessey Court. Please share with your parent organizations, community partners and others.

Join us this Friday at 8:15 a.m. for a virtual check-in with Principal Goetz. This is a good time to hear updates about the school and ask any questions you may have.

K – 10:55-11:25, 11:00-11:30 (pick up lunches, eat elsewhere – no parents)

1st – 11:10-11:50, 11:20-12:00  (eat in cafeteria with parents)

2nd – 11:35-12:05p, 11:40a-12:10p  (pick up lunches, eat elsewhere – no parents)  

3rd – 12:05p-12:45p, 12:15p-12:55p (eat in cafeteria with parents)

4th – 12:25p-12:55p  (pick up lunches, eat elsewhere – no parents)

5th – 12:40p-1:20p (eat in cafeteria with parents)

Despite the chilly temperatures on Saturday, Sylvan Park students, faculty and our new MASCOT enjoyed marching in the parade to celebrate our school and MNPS!

Thank you for once again helping us appreciate our teachers by stocking the lounge! It’s always a staff favorite.

Thank you to all the families and friends that came out to our Thanksgiving Lunch last Thursday for Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grades! 

Thank you to everyone who helped make last week’s book fair such a success. Our volunteers worked hard to help with set up, shop assistance and pack up. We raised over $3,000 for our school library and spread lots of joy, smiles and memories to our Panthers! 

We are continuing our second school-wide seminar this week. All students will participate in a seminar using the fable The Lion and the Mouse by Jerry Pinkney between November 14-22. During this seminar, students will discuss the ideas and values of kindness, strength, acceptance, and compassion. Our post-seminar activity will ask students to write and illustrate a card thanking someone for his/her kindness. Ask your child about this exciting and engaging learning experience.

We’re doing a small stock the lounge focusing on harvest.  Think apples, nuts, pumpkins, etc!  We hope you will considering helping support our teachers in this way as we look forward to Thanksgiving break.  

We will again have 2 options for drop off.

1) At the tubs located by the main entrance to the school from 7:45-8:00 this Thursday, November 17th.  

2) At the designated bin at 4406 Park Ave. (Monika’s house) prior to the 17th.
