Dear MNPS families:
To improve how we communicate with you, we’re updating the phone number used for mass text messages from Metro Nashville Public Schools—both districtwide messages and those sent by individual schools through our Finalsite communications platform.
Beginning Thursday, November 20, our mass text messages will come from a new local phone number:
New Text Message Number: 615-825-7652
Please save this number in your contacts as “MNPS Alerts” so you can quickly recognize messages from us.
Why this change?
The company which provides our mass notification system, Finalsite, is transitioning from short-code numbers to local phone numbers. Local numbers are more familiar and easier to recognize, which helps ensure you receive and trust the messages we send.
This update applies only to mass text messages sent through the Finalsite system. It does not affect text messages sent by individual staff members or those sent through REMIND or other school-based communication platforms.
What stays the same?
- Emergency notifications will continue to come from your current short-code number for now.
- Phone call messages (including attendance calls and school closure announcements) will continue to come from your school’s or the district’s main phone number.
Federal regulations require text messages and recorded voice calls to use different phone numbers, which is why these systems must remain separate.
Thank you for staying connected with us. We remain committed to providing clear, timely updates in alignment with national best practices.
