The PTO and the school put on multiple events throughout the year to build community, show off the students’ hard work, and have fun! Incoming Kindergarten Popsicle Party
Come meet other families who will be attending Sylvan Park next year, meet members of your PTO, ask your questions, and hear all about our wonderful school! Siblings welcome!

Incoming Kindergarten ABCs + Information Session for New-to-SPE Families
In-Person assembly in the auditorium to learn all about the upcoming school year and what to expect. This event is for adults only.
August 6
PTO General Assembly Meeting
Join us as we discuss plans to support our school and upcoming events and projects.

Family Work Day
Volunteer for an hour shift to do some light cleaning and organizing, and get the school ready for the new year!
August 8
Meet the Teachers
Come see your child’s classroom and meet their teacher before the first day of school. Consider this a practice run for the first day! This is also a good time to bring your school supplies so your child doesn’t have to worry with them on their first day.
August 10
Tears & Cheers
Cheer on students…and maybe shed a few tears…as they begin a new school year. Snacks, photo ops, and tissues will be provided outside the front doors of the school on the first day.
August 11
Back to School Open House
Open house is an opportunity to learn more details from your child’s homeroom teachers, to learn more specifics from subject-specific teachers, get answers to your questions, and meet other parents. This is an important informational evening so please try to attend. This event is for adults only and no childcare will be provided.
August 27
Spirit Night
Community businesses host events where a portion of proceeds benefits our school. It’s a fun way to unite the community and support our students.

Picnic in the Park
Meet other members of our community while your kids enjoy their classmates, playground, and open spaces of Richland Park. Our fall fundraising campaign kicks off as well.
September 23
INVEST
Invest is our annual fall campaign where we ask families and supporters for direct donations. This helps streamline financial requests and limits requiring students to sell items or promote things. This is our biggest campaign of the year and accounts for 60% of our income. Without this campaign, we would not be able to fund our much-needed school priorities such as our instructional interventionist and other classroom needs.

A Grand Gathering
All who are ‘grand’ in our students’ lives are invited to celebrate your Panthers and learn about ways to support SPE.

Walk to School Day
Walk to school (or park nearby and walk!) and join us for snacks, drinks, and fun before school!
October 7
Fun Run
Celebrate the end of our big fall fundraising campaign and cheer on your kids as they run around the playground!
October 8
Trunk or Treat
Open to the school community (including siblings), dress up, see the fun trunks and come get some candy in the back parking lot.

Grade Level Performances
Our wonderful music teacher and related arts dream team work with the students for an epic show. A can’t miss event!

Book Fair
The Book Fair offers a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.

An opportunity for students to showcase their learning with grade projects.

Parent Social and Auction
Come mingle and enjoy some time together with other parents, teachers, and staff at the annual Parent Social & Auction. Food, Drinks & Silent Auction; this is a fun adult-only night!

The Student Art Show is a magical showcase that celebrates the boundless creativity of our young artists.
